What is most useful to send

Corrections are the most valuable thing this site receives, and the most useful ones are specific. If a page cites a source that does not actually support what the page claims, naming the page and the source is enough to act on. The same goes for a source that has been superseded, or a claim that has drifted from what the cited study measured.

Requests for an ingredient that is not covered are also welcome. Whether it gets a page depends on whether the literature contains anything specific enough to be worth writing down — the about page explains why the dataset is larger than the set of published pages, and the methodology page covers how sources are selected.

What cannot be answered

Questions about your own skin, your acne, or whether a particular product will break you out cannot be answered here. This site is maintained by a software engineer, not a clinician, and no honest answer to those questions can be given by someone who has not examined you. For persistent, painful, scarring or worsening acne, see a qualified healthcare professional.

Product submissions, sponsorship offers, link exchanges and guest posts are declined. Nothing on this site is a paid placement, and keeping it that way means not opening the door.

Replies

This is a one-person project, so a reply may take a while and a message that needs no reply may not get one. A correction that holds up will be made whether or not there is time to write back about it.
